Signage for KFC’s Chicken Town Advert

Allen Signs were tasked with creating signage for KFC’s Chicken Town advert.

The advert would highlight the stark contrast between the worn, second-hand look of the existing signs and the transformative, bright new KFC signage.

The Challenge

The campaign’s concept was to emphasize the difference between Chicken Town’s grubby, old signage and the revitalized, fresh appearance of KFC. The challenge was to make the existing signs look intentionally weathered and dilapidated while the new KFC signs needed to shine, drawing attention to the brand’s transformation.

Our Solution

  • Grubby, Second-Hand Look: We used distressed, aged materials and techniques to create signage that appeared faded, peeling, and worn out—evoking the sense of something that had been in place for years.
  • Bright, Fresh KFC Signage: The new KFC signs were designed to contrast dramatically with the old ones, featuring crisp, clean designs and vibrant colors to communicate the freshness of the brand.

The Outcome

The finished signage created an effective visual contrast that successfully communicated the message of transformation. The old, weathered signs stood in stark contrast to the bright new KFC signage, drawing attention to the brand’s revitalisation.

Conclusion

This project demonstrated Allen Signs’ ability to creatively capture the essence of a campaign through innovative signage solutions. By producing both worn and fresh designs, we helped KFC achieve the intended impact of their Chicken Town advert, highlighting the dramatic shift in their branding.
